CT ARSA FOUNDATION SUKOHARJO HIGH SCHOOL: Teaching Practice

 Procedures of Teaching

The students greeted me with enthusiastic smiles and greetings; we always begin the day with a prayer. Prior to the start of the class, looking for absentees and arranging seats must done. A game before discussion helped captivate the attention of my fascinating learners. Reviewing the last part of the lesson may serve as a memory refresher and memory testing simultaneously.

They need to come up with ideas, so asking whether they have any will help them hone their thoughts. We can be more engaged in the lesson if they tell us a story that is relevant to their culture and heritage. Teamwork, helping classmates, and personal growth via challenging oneself were all indicators of progress.

By including a rubric with the activity, you can ensure students pay attention to the details. It will also encourage them to get an excellent score. Before starting, ensure everyone is on the same page with the directions. Seeing the sheer delight on their faces as they worked paved the way for me.

Motivating them to improve their weaknesses may be achieved through offering feedback on the task they were performing. They would have been delighted to get some words of wisdom on how to improve their pronunciation, expand their vocabulary, and boost their self-confidence while speaking English. Their eyes were as bright as a star, and their expression revealed their determination to study.

Time Management and Organizing Activities

"Time is the school in which we learn, Time is the fire in which we burn," says Delmore Schwartz in his poem "Calmly We Walk Through This April's Day." Because time is both a teacher and a destroyer, we should do something meaningful with it. We need to learn how to manage our time well in school so that we don't fall behind. The student teachers or instructors received a tremendous gift when they did anything that may make learners happy while they are learning. I will always cherish the moments of joy we had as we made our lessons more accessible and engaging for them.

The process of planning activities to test students' knowledge was long and arduous; to create an accurate assessment that works for every student, you need to think about everything. Their success on the tests I've given them brought me unfathomable happiness. A teacher has to be proficient in, and adept at, time management and activity organization to carry out a lesson or duty effectively while ensuring that their pupils enjoy it.

Classroom Management

Establishing routines and procedures for managing a classroom is essential. A lively welcome and a wide smile at the start of class have the potential to create a positive environment. Classrooms that are neat and tidy before instruction begins help students focus and allow them to study in an environment free of distractions.

Their development was greatly aided by the establishment of an atmosphere that teaches students to share, help, and interact with others. They would be emotionally and psychologically impacted by a setting that encourages personal growth and development. The bedrock of a healthy relationship was establishing not just a friendship but a family that one can rely on in times of need. Students should feel safe enough to speak their minds and contribute to creating a positive learning environment; effective classroom management is not a teacher-imposed regulation but rather a student-driven initiative.

Problem-Solving

Escaping your favorite comfort zone to teach in an unfamiliar area is like stepping out of a labyrinth. For me, the biggest hurdle was adjusting to all the numerous things, countries, and customs. It was also incredible to learn about individuals from a different country who speak a language that is completely foreign to you as your student.

I will always remember that it was a bold and careful move that helped me blend in with Indonesian culture. Classroom life was a constant struggle for me; I had to speed down the way I spoke and make adjustments to my vocabulary and grammar to fit in. Also, teaching is difficult since their lesson plans are only available once a year and are written in Bahasa Indonesia. I had to do much research to comprehend the narrative since I wanted to include Indonesian customs and cultures in my chosen topic.

It was a long and winding road, but my internship was invaluable in shaping my professional outlook. It was a pleasure to meet people who were welcoming about their Muslim faith, culture, language, and customs. Embracing me completely without making me feel like I didn't belong was like that.

The key was adaptation; by combining their customs with ours, we might create a harmonious partnership between our two nations. Achieving the SEA-Teacher Project aim was like receiving a gift from both countries: the opportunity to exchange ideas, examine and improve flaws, and receive suggestions and recommendations.
